There are lots of great ways to find quality stables in your area but it’s hard to know where to turn. If you have questions about how to find the best place for your thoroughbreds we’ve got some suggestions:

Get Online: There are great message boards all over the web dedicated to talking about specific horse issues so get on your Satellite Internet and search them out. When you find a thread about your area, read through and even post!

Ask a Vet: Find the most reputable horse veterinarian in town and ask them who they’d use. When people in the industry recommend somewhere to you you can usually count on it being a quality care facility.

Ask a Neighboring Stable: Likewise, if you live in a smaller town near a bigger city, say, Athens to Atlanta, GA, find the best stable in the city (search it out online) and talk to them. If they’re big enough they’ll usually have some intel on all the best stables in the state which will at least help narrow your search down.

Caring for a horse is a big responsibility. Caring for a racehorse that is specially bred and trained for racing is another matter all together. Properly sustaining a racehorse is a lifelong commitment. If you want to win races, you must follow some basic rules.

You must know your breed and the ancestry of the horse from the moment it enters the world to determine traits that may need specific attention, both positive and negative.

Also, you must feed and exercise your horse in special ways or there will be no trophies. The same approach applies to both horses and children alike. You must take care of them physically, provide proper diet, and make sure they have adequate exercise or they will not be capable of becoming a winner on the fast track.

Both vaccinating your horse and keeping his/her environment clean and sanitary are key to the health of the horse. Neither an unhealthy horse nor an out of shape horse will win races.

In addition, you must maintain a good relationship with the horse. They’re sensitive creatures and they will respond to proper stimuli, guidance, correction, love and respect. Follow the rules and they will make you proud! You thought this was good? Brace yourself: The horse race

Horse racing is a multi-billion dollar industry that takes place on six continents. It is an ancient sport; the Babylonians were known to race hot blooded horses. Today, different breeds of horses are raced, but the most popular, by far, is Thoroughbred racing.

The Thoroughbred industry is most prevalent in the United Kingdom and the United States. Thousands of foals are born each year, though only a small percentage actually go on to become racehorses.

Racehorses are not trained the same way riding horses are. They are not taught the traditional aids that most riding horses are taught. While there are exceptions, most racehorses are energetic, smart and can be difficult to handle.

There is an entire industry of off-the-track racehorses that are put up for adoption. These horses are often not fast or bold enough to make a career in racing, and so are adopted out. There are many success stories about former racehorses who have gone on to have successful careers in other equestrian disciplines. To adopt such a horse, however, it takes a knowledgeable horseman who is willing to put in the time and patience to retrain the animal.

Regardless of when a Thoroughbred is born, his birthday is considered to be January 1st. Many racehorse breeders try to time the birth of their foals as close to January or February as possible.

Horses come in many breeds, each one with a type of physique and mindset to do certain types of activities. The thoroughbred has been developed for racing and excels in it over all other breeds. The quarter horse was developed for racing and also has become the premier stock horse for working cattle. It’s musculature and calm mindset makes it the ideal horse to do ranch work. Draft horses do hard hauling work and their gentle nature makes them the best four-legged employees you can have on your farm.

Caring for each breed requires knowing what is expected from the horse. Most draft horses are used for show and demonstrations and do not do as much farm labor as in days past. But they still require serious consideration in food and exercise. They eat more because they are rather large, they also need to exercise to keep their weight under control and muscles firm. Arabians and other performance horses require alfalfa hay. The protein content needs to be higher because of their activity level and other nutrition needs. Being in a pasture provides horses a horse-social environment and the ability to graze. But their diet and health will depend on a combination of regular feeding of breed-required hay and supplements per horse. It’s a good idea to study how to feed your horse so it can be at its best.Related Article : I’ve found out something…

Owning a horse for many children is like a dream come true. Trying to find the perfect horse may seem to be a huge undertaking. Here are some tips to help make that decision a little bit easier.

One of the most important things is to consider the age of the child. Children grow and mature at different rates. Determine what will be the horse’s primary purpose. Will your child be showing or trail riding? Are you looking for a horse that is fully trained or needs work?

You will also need to take into consideration your child’s size. If your child is younger with lots of growing still to do, you need to decide if you should look at a pony or get a horse that is large enough for your child to grow up with. Many larger horses can be calmer than the smaller ponies so don’t let size intimidate you!

Another important tip to consider is to find someone with horse experience to go along with you when looking at potential horses. Someone with horse knowledge can be one of the most helpful things you can do. This person can evaluate the horse’s behavior and suitability and help decide if the horse is what you’re looking for.
