MARCH 2001 UPDATE:

Punch started sitting on six eggs in January but I did not have much hope that they would hatch. We have had below freezing nights since November with no relief. I had made a deep bed of sawdust covered with hay in the little shed for the eggs and Punch was once again not eating or drinking for almost two months.. .

March 29, 2001: One egg has hatched and the chick looks strong so far. . . One of the eggs is a robin's egg blue in color. . .I wonder what color the chick will be if it hatches! I will keep you posted if you tune in. . . .

April: A total of two eggs hatched and both chicks were doing well for the first three or four weeks. Then suddenly one chick begain to fail. He became very weak and would not eat. He died within a few hours.

June: "Jane" is doing well and I have decided to keep her and see how things go as she grows up. Punch is still looking after her and Judy pays no attention to her.
